Can you tell us about your role at the Datategy, and what kind of projects or initiatives you have been working on during your internship?

During my two-month internship at Datategy, I worked closely with a data engineer on the Pre Sales team, focusing primarily on creating tailored demos for potential clients. These demos are designed to showcase the key features and capabilities of papAI platform in a way that aligns with each client’s specific needs and use cases. This required both technical understanding and a strategic mindset to effectively communicate the platform’s value.

In addition to that, I’ve also collaborated with the QA team to identify and report bugs on the platform. This involved testing features, documenting technical issues, and contributing to the overall improvement of user experience and platform reliability. These experiences gave me valuable insights into both the client-facing and technical aspects of a data-centric company like Datategy.

How have Datategy teams help you to develop your skills and competencies in the data industry, and what have you learned during your time in the program?

What kind of mentorship and support have you received during your internship, and how has this helped you to navigate your first professional experience?

Although this wasn’t my first professional experience, my time at Datategy was uniquely transformative. The mentorship I received went far beyond technical guidance; it was a blend of trust, autonomy, and thoughtful coaching. From day one, I was given real ownership over high-impact projects, which challenged me to step up, make decisions, and take responsibility for delivering value. But I was never left alone in that process. My mentors were always there to challenge my thinking, answer tough questions, and share their experience, both technical and strategic.

What stood out most was how approachable and invested the team mentorship wasn’t just scheduled, it was embedded into everyday interactions. Whether it was during sprint reviews, informal chats, or technical deep dives, I was constantly learning. Our discussions frequently went beyond the scope of day-to-day tasks, covering industry trends, ethical concerns in AI, and how to build a meaningful career in tech.

How has the Datategy Early Careers Program fostered a sense of initiative and team spirit among its participants, and what values do you think are important for success in the data industry?

The Datategy Early Careers Program encouraged initiative by constantly pushing me to deepen my understanding of data science. I was given access to many resources and, more importantly, the opportunity to engage directly with experts in the field, which is an incredible chance to learn and grow. This experience showed me how important intellectual curiosity is for success in the data industry, especially in a fast-moving industry.

What made the difference was the direct access to experienced data scientists and AI professionals. These weren’t just brief interactions, they were genuine conversations where I could share ideas, test assumptions, and get feedback from people who’ve worked on real, large-scale AI challenges. This exposure was invaluable. Beyond that, I had access to a wide range of learning resources from technical documentation to internal tools and sandbox environments which allowed me to experiment, fail, and grow safely.

Can you share any challenges or obstacles that you have faced during your internship, and how you have overcome them with the support of Datategy teams?

One of the main challenges I faced during my internship was getting up to speed with papAI platform and the broader data science ecosystem, given that I came in with limited prior experience in this specific domain. While I had a strong foundation in mathematics and computer science, applying those skills in a real-world data context required a new way of thinking.

Thankfully, the team here was incredibly supportive. My colleagues were always open to answering questions, sharing resources, and walking me through unfamiliar concepts. Their guidance helped me quickly build confidence and gain practical skills.

How has the Datategy supported diversity and inclusion among its participants, and what impact has this had on your experience in the program?

Datategy fosters a truly diverse and inclusive culture one that goes beyond surface-level representation. Throughout the Early Careers Program, I had the opportunity to collaborate with team members from a wide range of cultural, academic, and professional backgrounds. This diversity wasn’t just visible,it was embraced. Different perspectives were actively encouraged, and I noticed very early on that every idea, no matter who it came from, was heard and considered.

As an intern, this had a huge impact. It made me feel confident to share my thoughts, ask questions, and even challenge ideas without fear of being judged or overlooked. In brainstorming sessions or technical discussions, collaboration felt organic and respectful, not hierarchical. This open atmosphere pushed me to listen more deeply, think more critically, and engage more meaningfully with my teammates.

What do you hope to achieve during your time at the Datategy, and how do you see this experience helping you to achieve your long-term career goals in the data industry?

My main goal during this internship was to gain a deeper understanding of the tech, data science, and AI industry. Coming from an academic background where a wide range of career paths are possible, I wanted to explore how this field operates in practice and see if it could be the right fit for me. This experience gave me valuable insight into the day-to-day realities of the industry and it has definitely sparked a strong interest in pursuing a career in this space.

What advice would you give to other young graduates or students who are interested in applying for the Datategy Early Careers Program, and how can they make the most of this opportunity to develop their skills and launch their careers in the data industry?

My advice would be to come in with a strong sense of curiosity and a willingness to learn. You don’t need to be an expert in data science to get started, but you do need to be open minded, proactive, and ready to step outside your comfort zone. Take initiative, ask questions, and don’t be afraid to engage with the team. Everyone at Datategy is incredibly supportive and happy to share their knowledge.
