Life at Datategy : Enzo DAMION

Hello everyone, my name is Enzo Damion.

I recently graduated from “Mines Nancy Engineering School”, and earned a Master of Science in Artificial Intelligence from the “University of Lorraine”. During my studies, I specialized in AI and Data Science, with a particular focus on Computer Vision, a field that truly fascinates me. Joining Datategy for my first job was a natural choice for me, as I was eager to contribute to the development of a robust and accessible AI solution for everyone.

As a Data Scientist at Datategy, my primary objective is to introduce new Machine Learning and Deep Learning features to papAI, our no-code Artificial Intelligence factory. I focus particularly on implementing state-of-the-art Deep Learning models in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Computer Vision to empower our users to tackle complex problems with simple solutions.

What is your Role at Datategy?

As a Data Scientist at Datategy, my primary objective is to introduce new Machine Learning and Deep Learning features to papAI, our no-code Artificial Intelligence factory. I focus particularly on implementing state-of-the-art Deep Learning models in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Computer Vision to empower our users to tackle complex problems with simple solutions.

In my role, I leverage my expertise in developing and fine-tuning neural network architectures to enhance papAI’s capabilities in computer vision. This involves researching and integrating cutting-edge algorithms for object detection, image classification, and image segmentation.

Additionally, I collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather feedback and insights, ensuring that our computer vision solutions meet the diverse needs of our clients across various industries. Through continuous experimentation and optimization, I strive to push the boundaries of what’s possible with AI-driven computer vision, driving innovation and delivering tangible value to our customers.

What does your Typical Workday Look Like?

My typical workday starts at 9:30 am, where I begin by organizing and updating my to-do list with my accomplishments from the previous day and setting goals for the day ahead. This ritual helps me maintain clarity and focus as I navigate through my tasks.

The majority of my day is spent programming, diving into the intricacies of developing and fine-tuning machine learning models for papAI. Whether it’s implementing new algorithms or optimizing existing ones, I immerse myself in code, leveraging my skills to enhance our AI platform’s capabilities.

During the generous one-hour lunch break, I take time to recharge and refuel, either by enjoying a home-cooked meal or stepping out for some fresh air. This break allows me to return to work with renewed energy and enthusiasm.

Collaboration is a cornerstone of our work culture, so I often engage with my colleagues to gain new perspectives on challenging problems. Their insights and expertise are invaluable, helping me overcome obstacles and refine my approach to complex tasks.

In the afternoon, I indulge in a little “goûter break,” a French tradition of enjoying a light snack with something sweet to keep me energized. Whether it’s a croissant, a piece of fruit, or a small pastry, this brief respite recharges my batteries for the rest of the day.

As the day draws to a close, I wrap up my tasks and take stock of my progress. While most days end around 6:30 pm, flexibility is key in our work culture, allowing me to adjust my schedule as needed to accommodate deadlines and priorities.

What's your Favorite Part of your Job?

My favorite aspect of my job is undoubtedly the opportunity to learn every day. There are always new challenges to explore and overcome, which drives me to continuously improve and expand my knowledge. Whether it’s diving into cutting-edge research papers, experimenting with novel techniques, or attending workshops and conferences, I’m constantly pushing the boundaries of what I know.

Moreover, our team is incredibly supportive and willing to share insights into the latest technologies and their areas of expertise, which greatly enriches my learning experience. We foster a culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing, where everyone’s contributions are valued and respected. This environment not only accelerates my learning but also inspires me to take on new challenges with confidence.

Additionally, I appreciate the autonomy and trust given to me to explore and innovate. As a Data Scientist Engineer, I have the freedom to propose and implement new ideas, experiment with different approaches, and contribute to the evolution of our AI platform. This level of autonomy fosters creativity and ownership, empowering me to make meaningful contributions to our projects.

What's your Next Challenge at Datategy?

Having just completed my current mission in Natural Language Processing, where I provided the opportunity to train NLP models to detect entities and relations in text, my next challenge at Datategy will be to enhance our Computer Vision use cases for papAI. This involves delving deeper into the world of Computer Vision to develop cutting-edge solutions that meet the evolving needs of our clients.
