ToggleHello everyone, I am Vakchija SIVAKUMAR.
I have been working as a Quality Improvement Manager for Octocity project for two years. As I am a patient and rigorous person with an excellent capacity for concentration, I manage to excel in the tasks that I undertake. In addition, my good analytical and synthesis skills help me to be precise in my work while being clear in my words. Apart from work, I love to read personal development books, to do watercolor painting and cook some innovative dishes. I also take part in boxing sessions within the company after work. Recently, I developed a passion for photography.
What is your Role at Datategy?
As a quality improvement manager, my primary objective is to improve the software quality. It starts with writing some documentation on test cases and functionalities of the application. Other than documentation, my work can be divided into two categories: manual testing and automation testing.
Concerning manual testing, I start with bug hunting. It helps to minimize application malfunction. Then, while implementing new features, I make sure that the new implementation is coherent with client’s requirements.
Apart from that, I try to automate test cases in order to accelerate testing phrases and avoid human errors while testing manually. For that, I use several frameworks like Espresso for Android testing and Selenium or Playwright for web automation.
Through continuous learning and its application on the project, I try to make the application more robust and bug-free so that customer experience can be increased as well as the company’s reputation.
What does your Typical Workday Look Like?
My typical work day starts at 9:30 am, where I start by looking at the tasks I have completed yesterday and the sticking points.
As we work in agile methodology with a 2-week sprint, we have a daily meeting every day at 10 am. I therefore participate in this daily meeting. This allows us to share what we did the day before and say what we plan to do today. It’s also the time to ask for help if you ever get stuck on certain tasks.
After this short meeting, I start by testing all the tickets that are put on the “to test” column by developers. To manage these tasks, we use the Jira application. Either I validate the implementation, or I submit the tickets to the ‘to fix’ column with comments. For most of my afternoon, I automate the test cases. Additionally, I also prioritize learning new tools that would make the testing phase easier.
Currently, I am learning the PlayWright framework with a new language which is Typescript. This allows me to be up to date with latest technologies on the testing market. What’s your favorite part of your job? My favorite part of my job is helping my team produce quality products. This is the most rewarding part of my job as a quality assurance engineer.
My role requires significant rigor and ability to concentrate, and knowing how to work alone or in a team. I love finding the best ways to improve testing processes and learning new skills.
Furthermore, when I see that customers don’t call us for bugs and the number of calls on the hotline platform is really low. This gives me the satisfaction of knowing that my work is well appreciated and it encourages me to continue to guarantee good quality of my products.
What's your Favorite Part of your Job?
As the Quality Control Manager at Datategy, my role is both challenging and deeply rewarding. The favorite part of my job is undoubtedly the sense of impact and the continuous pursuit of excellence. Every day, I get to work with a team of talented professionals dedicated to ensuring that our AI solutions not only meet but exceed the highest standards of quality and reliability.
One of the most gratifying aspects of my position is the opportunity to be at the forefront of innovation. At Datategy, we are constantly pushing the boundaries of what AI can achieve, and as a quality assurance manager, I play a crucial role in this process. Ensuring that our products are meticulously tested and validated before they reach our clients gives me a profound sense of accomplishment.
Moreover, I take great pride in our commitment to ethical AI. In a rapidly evolving field, maintaining high ethical standards is paramount. Being part of a company that prioritizes responsible AI development aligns perfectly with my personal values and professional aspirations. It is fulfilling to know that my work contributes to creating AI solutions that are not only effective but also fair and transparent.
What's your Next Challenge at Datategy?
My next challenge is to become as expert as possible in the PlayWright framework and to implement all the test cases that we have defined to set up end-to-end testing of our web application. At the same time, I want to continue to improve the quality of our products. I am also considering preparing for the ISTQB foundation-level certification in the near future.
